Best Daily Morning Routine for Students Going to School!

best daily morning routine for students

“Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today!”

It’s a phrase we’ve all said and heard at least once, right? Though most people just assume that it is a simple way of saying you’re grouchy, there is a grain of truth to the old adage. Your morning really does set the tone for the day, and morning always starts when you wake up.

Why Do Mornings Matter, Anyway?

Believe it or not, the idea of mornings setting the tone for your day isn’t an old wives’ tale. Studies have shown that students who practice healthy morning routines are more likely to get high grades, graduate from school, and also establish healthier relationships with their colleagues.

Having a good morning habit doesn’t just improve your chances at keeping yourself put together. Several research studies show that starting good habits while you’re still a student improves your chances of keeping those habits later on in life. By kicking off your morning right, you’re laying a good foundation for the rest of your life.

Moreover, having the discipline to have a good routine in the morning tends to continue on later in the day. In other words, it gives you that “get it done” attitude that leads to a really progres-filled day. More productive days translates into more success for you.

How To Start Your Day

Superstition suggests that waking up on your left leads to a bad day, but that’s not true. Waking up right is mostly about doing the right things to set your day. You can control your morning routine to make the best of it. A good routine will get you prepped for your time at school, at work, or with friends. Here’s how to make it work for you.

  1. Wake up a bit earlier. Studies show that the majority of highly successful people are very early risers. It makes sense, since they often rely on their morning time to get mentally and physically prepped for a highly intense day.
  2. Drink a glass of water. Did you know that most models start their day by drinking a glass of water before they do anything else? It’s true. The reason they do this is because it helps you stay hydrated and also prevents you from overeating.
  3. Eat breakfast. Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Studies show breakfast eating students have better grades, lower weights, and better social lives. To double up the benefits of this part of your morning, start your breakfast with something healthy and fresh.
  4. Clean up after your breakfast. It seems like such a minor thing, but it’s not. The easiest way to make sure you don’t feel upset about too many chores later is to tidy up as you go.
  5. Brush your teeth. No one likes a student with foul breath. You never know when that cutie in your morning class might chat you up!
  6. Take half an hour to just relax. Our society always seems to be about being on the go. That’s a great way to end up feeling frazzled before you even hit noon! Take half an hour to just chill and be yourself. You’ll be surprised at how refreshed and ready to go you’ll feel.
  7. Double-check your schedule. We’ve all had moments where we forgot appointments or other similar tasks the day they’re due. A quick look at your schedule can prevent that from happening to you and help you live a better life.
  8. Hit your gratitude journal. Before you do anything else, make a point of starting the day by listing five things you’re grateful for. Just being mindful of all the little things that you have going for you can put your mind in a better headspace.
  9. Do a short morning exercise routine. Exercise?! In the morning?! Yes, it sounds awful if you’re not used to it, but think again. Once you actually start doing a routine in the morning, even if it’s just a brisk walk or a 15-minute yoga session, you will feel more energized and ready to take on the day.
  10. Shower if you need to. You don’t really have to bathe every morning, nor do you even have to bathe daily. Some prefer to bathe or shower in the morning, while others don’t. If you like to clean up before you hit school, now would be the time to do it. If not, make this part of your nightly routine instead.
  11. Take off and put away your night clothes. Obviously, there will be a point where you need to stop running around in PJ’s. If you’re going to take your night clothes off, you might as well reduce another chore on your list for the night by putting them away immediately after you stop wearing them.
  12. Get dressed and groomed. Now that you’re feeling awake and you’re about to get ready to go out the door, take time to make sure you’re good to go as far as your outfit goes.
  13. Pack your lunch, if you need to. Most students don’t need to pack their lunch during the morning, but some do. If you need to, this would be the time to do it.
  14. If you packed your lunch, clean the dishes you used to make lunch. Once again, this cuts down on work later on.
  15. Do a quick inventory of things you need to head out the door. Car keys? Check. Wallet? Check. Glasses? Check. Assignments, textbooks, notebooks? Check. Lucky pen? Check. It’s simple and only takes a couple of seconds to do, but it can be a serious lifesaver later in the day.
  16. Head out the door, ready to face the day. Congrats, you already accomplished a ton in the morning, and probably still feel energized. Awesome, isn’t it?
